MANILA, Philippines — The PDP-Laban wing led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi on Tuesday officially endorsed the presidential candidacy of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
This was announced by officials of the PDP-Laban faction led by Cusi in a press conference.
Cusi said members of the group’s national executive committee signed Resolution No. 26 endorsing the candidacy of Marcos.
According to the resolution approved on Monday, Marcos received the most endorsements from several local councils of PDP-Laban. It also noted that the decision was made after “careful and exhaustive deliberations.”
“Senator Bongbong Marcos is the candidate whose platform is most aligned with the development program of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” the document read.
“He is the candidate whose vision of governance is most aligned with PDP Laban’s 11-point agenda,” it added.
The resolution further stated that the group endorses Marcos for president to promote “unity for sustainability” of socio-economic development and national progress.
In January, the group also adopted Marcos’ running mate, presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as its vice presidential candidate in the May 9 elections.
