MANILA, Philippines — If elected, presidential bet and former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. plans to develop a comprehensive internet-based disaster risk information roadmap to address the harmful effects of natural disasters on the environment and protect the public.

Marcos said the roadmap will be implemented through an information technology program.

“This is very important to protect our environment as we institute programs to balance economic gains and environment,” he said in a statement.

Marcos said he is eyeing to use the United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) system as a model.

Under the program, comprehensive information on dimensions of disaster risk are included such as hazards, exposure, vulnerability and capacity.

Studies, information, and mapping are likewise in the program’s disaster risk information to understand risk drivers and underlying factors.
