The spokesperson of presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Friday hit back at Aksyon Demokratiko for its latest move regarding the unsettled estate taxes of the Marcos family.

Aksyon Demokratiko chairman Ernest Ramel Jr. recently wrote a letter to Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) Chairman John Agbayani calling on the latter to answer "yes or no" if there is truth to the claim of Marcos' spokesman Vic Rodriguez that the PCGG and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) had agreed to wait for the decision on the case.

Ramel also asked BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay if they sent written demands to the Marcos family to settle their tax debt, which has risen to P203 billion.

In response, Rodriguez accused the political party of presidential candidate Isko Moreno of engaging in "negative and hateful campaigning."

"The penchant for issuing reckless statement by Aksyon Demokratiko on the pretext of knowing the factual antecedents of the matter and having in their possession document or at the very least, a supporting paper to back their claim, when there is none should be abhorred," Rodriguez said.

"After miserably failing to present any basis to anchor on their claim, it has become very clear that the only motivation is to further their negative and hateful campaigning against presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos without any regard for decency and responsibility," he added.

Rodriguez previously said the pieces of property that were the subject of the tax case were still under litigation.

Moreno earlier stated his intention to collect the Marcos estate tax debt and use it to provide aid should he win in the May 9 election. — VBL, GMA News
