Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Tuesday night announced that her party, Lakas-CMD, has formed an alliance with presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).

“Ang aking partido ay nakipag-alyansa at humingi ng suporta para kay Bongbong Marcos at para sa akin matapos kong tanggapin ang inyong hamon at panawagan,” Duterte-Carpio said in a video message uploaded on her official Facebook page.

The office of Lakas-CMD president and House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez also confirmed that the party will endorse the tandem of Marcos and Duterte-Carpio in the upcoming May 2022 polls.

The President’s daughter appealed to the supporters of the Duterte administration to be “united.”

The local chief executive stressed that even though the 15 November deadline for substitution of candidates before the Commission on Elections already passed, the “fight” has just begun.

Duterte-Carpio took oath as a new member of Lakas-CMD last Thursday, 11 November, then joined the vice-presidential race for the 2022 national elections by filing her certificate of candidacy (CoC) through a representative last Saturday, 13 November.

Lyle Uy, the Lakas-CMD’s original vice-presidential bet, withdrew his CoC and nominated Duterte-Carpio as his substitute for the post.

Following this move, PFP adopted Duterte-Carpio as its official vice-presidential candidate through a resolution.

Marcos is PFP’s standard-bearer.

Duterte-Carpio also revealed that Lakas-CMD asked the PDP Laban to support her tandem with Marcos but the ruling party rejected it.

Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go is PDP Laban’s presidential bet.

The people will make me strong. And it is through our solidarity and unity that we will be able to build a stronger nation,” she added.
