Senatorial aspirant Jinggoy Estrada has gained an endorsement from the tandem of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio for the May 2022 elections, the former senator announced on Wednesday.

“I am very happy that I have been included in the senatorial ticket of Bongbong Marcos and Inday Sara Duterte,” Estrada told a crowd of supporters in Lucena Convention Center in Lucena City, Quezon province.

Jinggoy Estrada is the president of Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP), which was founded by his father, former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada.

Last week, Estrada’s PMP and former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s Lakas-CMD have joined forces to support the 2022 bids of the son and namesake of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. and the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The two said parties signed an alliance agreement with Marcos’ Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) and Duterte-Carpio’s regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HnP).

During the signing of the alliance agreement among the four parties on 25 November, the younger Estrada vouched for their “brand of service” being the children of the previous and incumbent presidents.

“Being children of the presidents, it is impossible to take away from our consciousness, blood, and heart our desire to serve our dear people,” he said.

Estrada, also a former actor like his father, served as senator from 2004 to 2016.

He faced a P183-million plunder case in connection with the alleged pork barrel scam with businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles.

After spending three years in prison, he was released on bail in 2017.

His plunder case remains pending though.

His half-brother, former senator JV Ejercito, is also seeking a Senate comeback.

In the same event, Duterte-Carpio thanked Macapagal-Arroyo for soliciting support for her and her running mate.

“Former president Gloria Arroyo has been helping us to find and solicit support for our presidential and vice-presidential run for the 2022 elections,” Duterte-Carpio said.

The “Uniteam” tandem on 1 December kicked off their Calabarzon region sortie, visiting Quezon province and will move to Batangas the next day.

They also joined local leaders in a caravan to the Catanauan Central School in Catanauan town and Gumaca West Elementary School in Gumaca municipality.

The tandem has yet to announce the complete list of their senatorial ticket.
