PRESIDENTIAL aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his UniTeam have received the endorsement of El Shaddai leader Mike Velarde, just after getting the support of Gov. Jonvic Remulla of vote-rich Cavite province.

Atty. Vic Rodriguez, spokesman of the former senator, acknowledged “the generous gesture of El Shaddai in openly endorsing the BBM-Sara UniTeam” and called it “another testament that the call to liberate the Filipino people from the fetters of disunity gets stronger by the day.”

Velarde told his followers that the message of hope and unity that the UniTeam tandem of former Senator Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has been spreading encouraged him to support them.

Matagal nang lumapit sa akin yan dalawa na yan…it’s time for us Filipinos to be united. After all, napagbigyan natin yung mga kalaban ni (Ferdinand) Marcos nang maraming taon, baka naman itong dalawa may magawang mabuti para sa bayan. That’s why I have chosen them,” the El Shaddai leader said.[These two leaders have long approached me. It’s time for us Filipinos to be united., After all, we gave the opponents of Ferdinand Marcos many years to prove their worth; perhaps these two people have something good to offer the nation. That’s why I have chosen them].

Speaking partly in Filipino, Velarde continued: “They are open-minded and young. It’s time for Filipinos to be united.”

Velarde announced his endorsement of the Marcos-Duterte ticket during his group’s weekly prayer assembly on Saturday.

Rodriguez added: “We extend our brotherly embrace to Bro. Mike Velarde and his congregation. Truly, the time has come for all to be of one desire, and that is, to hurdle the pandemic, and rise, as one nation, together with other nations, towards the road of recovery, even progress.

“We welcome everyone in this movement for national unity, even those who have different political leanings and beliefs, even our very critics, for only in the act of joining hands we may triumph over all challenges we face today and on the road ahead.”

‘Marcos country’

On Friday afternoon, after declaring that Cavite is “Marcos country”, Gov. Jonvic Remulla formally endorsed Marcos Jr. during the UniTeam’s campaign sortie in the province.

Marcos was in Tanza, Gen. Trias, and Imus, Cavite Friday in a scheduled caravan and campaign sortie.

Remulla gave assurances that all the local officials in Cavite fully support the BBM-Sara UniTeam.

“Mr. President (BBM) we promise that Cavite will stand for you. We promise 800,000 plus votes here in Cavite for you,” Remulla said, speaking in Filipino.

“In the name of all the mayors here in Cavite, and also our Vice Governor, the Congressmen here, our support of 100 percent and the 800,000 plus votes of Cavite [are yours],” he added.

Last January, Remulla divulged that Marcos is the landslide winner in the province after scoring 62 percent in an internal survey conducted involving 1,600 respondents

throughout Cavite from December 1 to 5 last year.

According to the latest records of the Commission on Elections in 2019, Cavite has more than two million voters, second only to Cebu province, with the largest number of voters with more than three million voters.

In the 2019 national and local midterm elections, only around 1.3 million of the two million registered voters actually voted in the province.

BBM visits Caviteños

IN a clear display of genuine support, commitment and love, Caviteños were visibly overjoyed when they saw in person presidential candidate Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. during the 2nd leg of UniTeam caravan in the province on Friday.

The UniTeam Cavite caravan started at Suntrust Ecotown, Brgy. Sahud Ulan, Tanza, Cavite, where Marcos was joined by Cavite 7th District Representative Boying Remulla, his brother Governor Remulla and other top officials of the province.

Shortly thereafter, huge crowds suddenly appeared from almost everywhere trying to catch a glimpse of Marcos, who in return tried mightily to acknowledge their support by waving, signing autographs and holding short chats while with them, according to reports from the Marcos camp.

They gave an initial crowd estimate of more than one million people who waited for Marcos just to see and greet him aside from the occupants of thousands of vehicles who voluntarily joined the caravan.

Marcos’ group rested at the Bayleaf Hotel, Gen. Trias City where they had lunch and met with more than 20 (twenty) mayors and other relevant officials of the province.

It was in the said meeting where Gov. Remulla formally announced the province’s full support and endorsement of the candidacies of Marcos and his running-mate Inday Sara Duterte as well as their senatorial slate.

‘Still friends with Lacson’

Meanwhile, a CNN Philippines report quoted Remulla saying that despite his support for Marcos’ presidential bid, he and his province mate Senator Panfilo Lacson are still “very good friends.”

Remulla is a member of the National Unity Party (NUP), which is allied with Partido Reforma fielding Lacson as standard bearer and Senate President Vicente Sotto III as his running mate. NUP leaders gave them the freedom to choose who to support in the May 9 elections, CNN Philippines further quoted Remulla saying

“The senator and I had a good talk and I explained things to him,” he said. “Our relationship is great. In fact, he texted last night. He was thanking me for all the help, I was thanking him for all the friendship and service to my father. There’s no acrimony between the senator and I.”

Lacson and Sotto held their proclamation rally in Cavite, Lacson’s home province. He grew up in Imus City.
