Bongbong: Unifying people is the ultimate success

1 March 2022

FOLLOWING the huge expression of support he received from the people and local officials of Negros Occidental, presidential candidate Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. said the UniTeam’s success doesn’t only come after winning the elections but when their movement of unity fully reached every corner and aspect of the society.

Bongbong said the UniTeam is committed to give Filipinos a better life by addressing the problems brought by the pandemic, especially the loss of jobs and revitalizing the economy.

“We always talk about success in the elections, well, of course, that is very important, but the real success will be when we can say na pinagkaisa natin ang sambayanan and that is the first step to put people back to work, to bring our economy to better position it has ever been before,” he said during his meeting with local officials in Bacolod City.

“We, hopefully, will lead the people to that vision of unity as well, ‘di lang sa pulitika kundi pati sa lipunan. That I think will be the ultimate success,” he added.

Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer said a total of 28 city and municipal mayors and six congressmen were all solid and supportive of the UniTeam's call for unity.

“We are confident here (in Negros) that your team, UniTeam( will win), we will deliver,” Ferrer said in Ilonggo.

Ferrer said unity is the right term to describe the formidable tandem.

“Unity is the right term because Inday Sara coming from the South and then BBM coming from the North so very united,” he said.

He also said that the mayors were all overwhelmed and eager to meet the UniTeam.

Municipality of Toboso Mayor Richard Jaojoco described Bongbong as a charismatic leader who has bright plans to give the country a better future.

“We are here for the UniTeam, nakita natin na ito yung makakapag-ahon sa atin — ‘yung team ni Mayor Sara at BBM. Kagaya ngayong nasa pandemya tayo, nakita ko ‘yung clear na mga nagawa na nila at alam kong pulido ‘yung plano nila and hopefully we are going for the win,” he said.

“We go for the UniTeam. Actually, iba sinuportahan namin (noong 2016), ngayon baliktarin ko magiging 90-10 in favor of BBM,” he added.

Meanwhile, Municipality of Pontevedra Mayor Jose Maria Alonso also said that the UniTeam’s call for unity is timely.

“Ang plano niya is timely ngayon kasi we need to unite as a nation kaya siya ang tingin namin na unifying factor. Majority of the people wanted unity,” Alonso said.

His brother, Board Member Jose Benito Alonso, said unity is needed for the country to have progress.

Ever since, Marcos loyalist kami,” the two officials said.

One of the members of Sara Run Movement, Municipality of La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Manglimutan said Sara made the right choice of choosing Bongbong as her running-mate.

“I am one of those in Sara Run Movement then Sara decided to run for vice president, and she supported BBM. My father, a former mayor, is a Marcos believer. The call of president BBM is for unity, and we have to start from unity so that we can do more things. I believe he has the political will to run our country,” Manglimutan said.

“The presidency is the highest position in the country so dapat piliin natin ang taong firm ang paninindigan. I will support him for the win,” she added.

The UniTeam then held a dialogue with three sugar planters' groups, the United Sugar Producers Federation (UNIFED), the Asociacion de Agricultores de La Carlota y Pontevedra Inc. (AALCPI), and Kabankalan United Sugar Planters Association (Kusug-Pa), to discuss their plight and listen to their recommendation on how to better improve their industry.

Bongbong said he is thankful for the warm support the UniTeam received in the province.

“Maraming, maraming salamat sa inyo. As I said, I’m quite overwhelmed with this expression of support, and I thank you all for coming and meeting us and giving us an opportunity to be with you all and for us to hear that we have begun to come together,” he said.

“I’m always humbled by this expression of support,” he added.

“We always talk about success in the elections, well, of course, that is very important, but the real success will be when we can say na pinagkaisa natin ang sambayanan and that is the first step to put people back to work, to bring our economy to better position than it has ever been before,” sabi niya sa isang pulong kasama ang mga lokal na opisyal ng Bacolod City.

“We, hopefully, will lead the people to that vision of unity as well, ‘di lang sa pulitika kundi pati sa lipunan. That I think will be the ultimate success,” dagdag nito.

“We are confident here (in Negros) that your team, UniTeam( will win), we will deliver,” sabi ni Ferrer.

“Unity is the right term because Inday Sara coming from the South and then BBM coming from the North, so very united,” sabi ni Ferrer.

He also said that the mayors were all overwhelmed and eager to meet the UniTeam.

“We are here for the UniTeam, nakita natin na ito ‘yung makakapag-ahon sa atin — ‘yung team ni Mayor Sara at BBM. Kagaya ngayong nasa pandemya tayo, nakita ko ‘yung clear na mga nagawa na nila at alam kong pulido ‘yung plano nila and hopefully we are going for the win,” sabi nito.

“We go for the UniTeam. Actually, iba sinuportahan namin (noong 2016), ngayon baliktarin ko magiging 90-10 in favor of BBM,” dagdag pa niya.

“Ang plano niya is timely ngayon kasi we need to unite as a nation kaya siya ang tingin namin na unifying factor. Majority of the people wanted unity,” sabi ni Alonso.

“I am one of those in Sara Run Movement, then Sara decided to run for vice president, and she supported BBM. My father, a former mayor, is a Marcos believer. The call of president BBM is for unity, and we have to start from unity so that we can do more things. I believe he has the political will to run our country,” ayon kay Manglimutan.

“The presidency is the highest position in the country so dapat piliin natin ang taong firm ang paninindigan. I will support him for the win,” wika pa nito.

As I said, I’m quite overwhelmed with this expression of support, and I thank you all for coming and meeting us and giving us an opportunity to be with you all and for us to hear that we have begun to come together,” sabi nito.

“I’m always humbled by this expression of support,” dagdag pa ni Bongbong.
